Creating a cross-platform user experience for movie lovers.
Popcornflix is a free platform for watching movies and tv shows on its website and companion apps for Roku, Xbox and Apple TV and more. FUZE was asked convert their desktop-only site into a mobile-friendly experience that allows streaming on all devices.
What We Did
Fuze was contracted by Screen Media Ventures, the New York based parent company of Popcornflix, to undertake a much needed overhaul to Popcornflix.com. The old site featured a flash-based video player, meaning users could not access movies on iOS devices.
Additionally, advertising blocks on the previous site were optimized for desktop-only, which meant a lot of potential revenue was being lost due to the inability to serve ads on mobile devices.
The website redesign process began with user experience and creative design, followed by back-end coding via Node.js and Ruby. Development work included an upgrade to Brightcove’s mobile-friendly video player, and implementation of responsive ad units for Google Double Click For Publishers.
The end results is a site that drives more traffic, more revenue and puts Popcornflix.com on par with its competitors.

The Technology
Fuze harnessed the power of best-in-class technologies for serving videos and ads, and powering the back-end CMS and APIs. Below are a few of the partners who made this project possible.
“I want to say the site looks great, everyone at my company loves the overall feel to it. One even went so far as to say “This is a site that I would actually visit now!””
– Ben Saxton – Director of Digital, Popcornflix
